THE ‘Cornbrook Hub’ area could undergo a dramatic transformation if a regeneration framework prepared by Trafford Council, Manchester City Council and the Manchester Ship Canal Developments, goes ahead.

A six-week consultation on the proposals was launched on March 17, which will be considered in conjunction with the consultation already undertaken by Manchester City Council earlier in the year.

Cornbrook Metrolink Station, which lies on the border of Old Trafford and the Castlefield area of Manchester, would form a new ‘gateway to Trafford’ if plans go ahead.

As well as improvements to the station itself, residential, office and retail space, a hotel, and community facilities would all be built, creating around 1,750 new jobs during construction and upon occupation.
Cllr Michael Hyman, executive councillor for economic growth an

d prosperity said: “The successful implementation of the Cornbrook Hub will help secure the transformation of this key strategic site and complement the regeneration of the broader area.

“The delivery of the proposed development will support the transformation of Cornbrook and deliver the step change required to ensure it becomes a place where people choose to live, work and invest.”

Trafford Council hopes a successful delivery of the Cornbrook Hub will support the implementation of the adjacent Pomona Island development.
