SOME of literature’s most colourful characters roamed through Siuth Trafford as primary and secondary school pupils celebrated World Book Day.

The aim of the hugely popular event is to encourage more children to take up reading.

Pupils at Loreto Grammar School in Altrincham joined in the fun and pictured from left to right Ciara O'Neal (11) as Alice, Grace Edwards (12) as Dorothy with the ever faithful Toto and flashing blade Monika Bilechowska (12) as D'Artagan.

World Book Day appeals to youngsters of all ages and children at Altrincham Church of England Primary School played their part.
