ST Mary's ward councillor Rob Chilton led a ‘big tidy-up’ in Sale on March 8 on the field opposite Ashton-on-Mersey School, between Cecil Avenue & Selsey Avenue.
He was joined by several residents, fellow councillors and the Mayor, Cllr Dylan Butt.
A total of 10 large bags of discarded litter were collected, along with pieces of fence panel, chairs, insulation, piping and various other heavy objects.
Cllr Chilton said: “I am staggered by the amount of rubbish we were able to collect from a field that, at a cursory glance seemed so clean. I hope that users of the park will note our labours and be more careful where they put their litter.
“Once again it was pleasing to see a number of residents turn out to help us keep our community clean.”
