MORE than 40 children in care and young care leavers from across the North West, including Trafford, met MPs, councillors and professionals to talk about improving education for those in care.

Passport to Parliament is an annual event in the North West run by The Who Cares? Trust, a charity supporting children in care and care leavers.

The event, on February 21, gave children in care the chance to debate and put their views across about support they need in their education and their futures.

Natasha Finlayson, chief executive of The Who Cares? Trust, said: “Passport to Parliament is our flagship project to engage young people from all over the country in national political issues, and empower them to campaign for the improvements to the care system they want to see.”

The day also included group workshops and sessions on politics.
