A SPORTSMEN’S dinner organised by Sale Lions, was held to raise money for Meningitis Now.
The event, which was held at Sale Conservative Club on February 21, had TV impressionist Kevin Connelly as guest speaker.
The dinner, one of the Sale club’s major fundraising events, had plenty of entertainment on the evening which included a four-course meal.
Event organiser Geoff Homer said: “I suggested we support Meningitis Now because my mother, who is 85 years old, contracted the disease when she was a young woman, leaving her with serious hearing problems.
“It was surprising how many fellow club members could relate to the disease, either through a relative or friend, and the charity was unanimously chosen as the beneficiary of the dinner.”
A cheque for £1,000 was presented to the charity at the event.
