TRAFFORD Council is reminding residents to only place food and garden waste in their green bins for composting.

Householders are encouraged to use the caddy and liners provided by the Council to store their food waste before placing the full liner in the green bin. Food waste includes: meat and fish, raw and cooked including bones; dairy products, such as yogurt and cheese; raw and cooked vegetables and fruit, bread, cakes and pastries; rice, pasta and beans; tea bags and coffee grounds and plate scrapings. Liquids should not be put into the green bin, such as milk, juice or cooking oil.

Residents should never use plastic bags or black bin bags to dispose of food waste in their green bins. Replacement compostable liners are provided free of charge by the local authority and can be ordered by either tying a liner to the handle of the green bin or online at trafford.gov.uk/recycling.
