ENTRIES for this year’s Great Manchester Swim are now open and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the UK’s leading charity funder of research into muscle wasting conditions, is able to offer guaranteed places in the event in return for participants raising sponsorship.

Staged in Salford Quays, the one mile ‘dock to dock’ course promises to be an unforgettable experience in the open water. It’s an amazing opportunity to swim in a unique urban waterway with the course beginning near MediaCityUK, traversing Mariners Canal and finishing one mile away beside Salford Watersports Centre.

The event is suitable for swimmers of all abilities and there is waterside spectator access throughout the course so that friends and family can cheer on the participants.

Volunteer fundraising Manager for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, Charles Horton said: “We are urging local people take part in the Great Manchester Swim this summer and help people affected by muscle wasting conditions.

“We have guaranteed places which we are offering with a low minimum sponsorship level so if you would like to take part please get in touch now before all of these places are snapped up”.

Participants will need to provide their own wetsuit and are asked to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship for the charity.

The Great Manchester Swim takes place on Saturday, July 19 and further details about he Muscular Dystrophy Campaign guaranteed places are available by emailing northwest@muscular-dystrophy.org or by calling their regional office on 01244 536551.
