A SHIRT signed by footballing legends has been stolen from a house in Hale Barns.

The shirt was signed by Nobby Stiles, Bobby Charlton, Paddy Crerand and Bill Foulkes, who were all part of the Manchester United team which won the European Cup in 1968.

The burglary took place between 12pm on January 29 and 2pm on February 9.
Offenders got inside the house and took a number of items, including jewellery, televisions and laptops.

They then left in the victim’s car.

A framed replica of the royal blue Manchester United 1968 European Cup winners’ shirt was also taken.

PCJenna Smith said: “The victim had been away and returned to find his home had been ransacked and his personal property taken.

“He is obviously upset that his possessions have been stolen but he has been particularly affected by the loss of the framed shirt which was a retirement gift.

“It had been signed by former players such as Nobby Stiles, Bobby Charlton, Paddy Crerand and Bill Foulkes, all who played their part in the historic win at Wembley.

“We have issued a picture of the framed shirt and I would ask anyone who may have seen it or have been offered it under suspicious circumstances, to contact police.

“I would also ask anyone who may have witnessed the burglary or seen people acting suspiciously in the area to call us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7782 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
