RESIDENTS are being to have their say on a project that will shape the future of one of Trafford’s historic centres.

People are being asked to air their views on the council’s draft Altrincham Strategy which aims to create ‘one of the best market towns.’ The strategy involves a number of proposals, including the redevelopment of the Market area to include an events space and the Altair scheme, which will include a new ice rink and restaurants and cafes.

The refurbishment of the Stamford Quarter could include improvements to the frontage of premises on Stamford New Road, opening up the Grafton Centre to a wider mix of uses and the £17m Altrincham Hospital on Railway Street.

A new £19m Altrincham Interchange is now being built and the aim is to create a facility that will be accessible to all.

Councillor Michael Hyman, Executive Member for Economic Growth and Prosperity said: “The successful implementation of the Altrincham Strategy will help secure the transformation of Altrincham town centre.

The delivery of significant regeneration in the town centre will create a thriving and successful Modern Market Town. The strategy will be delivered through Altrincham Forward, our public private partnership which is working to regenerate the town."
