FURNITURE store DFS is thanking customers who helped raise more than £219,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture and Electrical stores.

To celebrate, the DFS store at Castlemore Retail Park, in Old Trafford, held an event to support the BHF’s campaign ‘Ramp up the Red’ where colleagues wore something red to show their support.

The money was raised through the BHF and DFS’ free sofa collection service. Any customer who needs to dispose of an unwanted sofa can take advantage of the free collection service.

The donated sofas are then taken to local BHF Furniture and Electrical stores to be sold, with all profits going to the charity.

Gareth Green, store manager for BHF Furniture and Electrical store, said: “By donating their old sofas, they have not only given someone else the chance to get a new sofa but also helped to raise vital funds which will help fight heart disease.”
