CONSERVATIVE by-election candidate the Rev. Daniel Critchlow was joined on the campaign trail on Monday by Home Secretary Theresa May.

They spent time speaking to residents ahead of voting on Thursday to elect a new MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East.

Issues raised on the doorsteps included crime and Mr Critchlow has pledged to set up a new youth project in Wythenshawe to tackle low-level crime and gangs.

Theresa May said: "I am very pleased to see one of Daniel Critchlow's main pledges is about putting a youth project in place, the aim of which is to help reduce low-level crime and youngsters getting into gangs.

"What people in this area want is somebody who is going to understand the local issues and who is going to represent them well and Rev. Daniel Critchlow is exactly such a person."
