RESIDENTS from South Trafford have decided which organisations will receive grants from Trafford Council’s Voluntary Sector Grants Scheme following last month’s event at Altrincham town Hall.
Trafford Council and the South Locality Partnership originally asked local people and community groups to develop new projects that would tackle challenging issues in local neighbourhoods revolving around the themes of child obesity, intergenerational activities and youth activities.
The event was organised by Thrive Trafford and was attended by 250 people with 220 community members registering to vote for their top five favourite projects.
The following groups were able to gain the £20,000 funding for their projects: Altrincham Children’s Choir, Be Active – courses which incorporate health, activity and food for young children and parents, Broomwood Community Sports, G Force – workshops and cultural events celebrating the diversity of the wider community, Timperley Community Amateur Boxing Club, Timperley Sports Club and Watling Gate Restoration Group.
