PLANS for the construction of a fourth platform at Manchester Airport station has been unveiled by George Osborne MP as part of a £600million rail investment programme in the north of England.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer marked the start of work on the platform on February 7 and construction will take place between March 14 and April 7 this year.
The Northern Hub project will help stimulate economic growth in the region by providing faster, more regular and reliable connections between towns and cities.
Mr Osborne said: “This investment will ensure growth is not concentrated in any one place by keeping Britain connected and creating thousands of local jobs, delivering a brighter economic future for the whole country.”
The £20million platform upgrade is due for completion by the end of 2015.
