A WOMAN was punched in the face in an unprovoked assault in Sale, on Wednesday evenin.

At about 7.35pm, a 43-year-old woman was at the back of Grosvenor House, Grosvenor Road, when she was approached by a man who was asking questions about the cars that were parked there.

When asked why he wanted to know about the cars, he told the woman: "I just need to get out of here.”

He then hit the woman across the face and ran off.

He is described as white, about 35 to 40 years old, of average build, unshaven and with slurred speech. He was wearing a dark hooded zipped up top with an emblem on the right chest area.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

Det Sgt Carl Gilbert, said: “While the injuries sustained weren’t overly serious, this was an unprovoked, unwarranted and totally unacceptable assault.

“The victim was alone and was engaging with the offender when he spoke to her so she was obviously taken aback when she was assaulted in this way.

“If you recognise anyone from the description provided I would urge you to contact us.”
