THE DFS Old Trafford store held a special event to celebrate the national sofa chain raising £219,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) furniture & electrical stores.

The event was in support of the BHF’s flagship fundraising campaign ‘Ramp up the Red’.

The money has been raised through the BHF and DFS’ free sofa collection service, through which any DFS customer who needs to dispose of an unwanted sofa can do so for free.

DFS Old Trafford store manager, Steve Thompson, said: “Our free collection service helps customers dispose of their unwanted sofas in a safe, convenient and sustainable way while raising money for the BHF and putting hundreds of sofas in new homes. It really is a win-win situation.”

On February 7, the BHF also asked customers to donate £2 to Ramp up the Red and help fight heart disease.

The store organised activities centred around one of the store’s red sofas and colleagues joined in by wearing red.
