A SALE primary school has been graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Tyntesfield Primary School, on Alma Road, received a glowing report from the Government’s education regulators, following an inspection in November last year.

The achievement is particularly impressive as the school was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted following its last inspection.

In its report, Ofsted called Kylie Spark an ‘inspirational headteacher’ who is well supported at all levels.

The report also highlighted student achievement, stating: “Pupils consistently reach high standards by the end of Year 6 and make excellent progress because of the outstanding teaching they receive.”

Mrs Spark said everyone at the school is ‘delighted’ with the outcome of the inspection.

“It is a great testament to the hard work, skill and dedication of the staff who ensure the very best outcomes for every child, every day,” she said.

“Our progress from good to outstanding is the result of the strong partnership between children, staff, parents and governors.

“Our relentless focus on ensuring the highest standards of teaching and the development of a challenging ethos has had a significant impact on school improvement.”

Inspectors made 21 visits to lessons at Tyntesfield, of which two were joint observations with the headteacher.

They also took account of 114 responses to the school’s online questionnaire and held meetings with three groups of pupils, as well as speaking to pupils at break and lunchtimes.

Mrs Spark added: “We are already focused on new and exciting curriculum developments in 2014.”
