Flixton girl's song chosen as ‘Single of the Week’ on Salford City Radio
Updated 10:10am Tuesday 4th February 2014 in News
Tara O’Neill’s single ‘Not Far Away’ was played on the station every day between January 27 and February 2.
Tara’s next appearance will be in ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Classics’ at St Mary’s Church, Davyhulme, on February 8.
Inspired by the recent successes of ‘The Beatles in Urmston’ and ‘The Stones in Urmston’ concerts in 2013, Trafford organiser Peter Killick has joined forces with David Mackereth to present what is hoped to be the first in a series of ‘Music at St Mary’s concerts.
Urmston groups ‘The Vincents’ - who opened the Beatles in Urmston show – and ‘The Jailbirds’ will be playing Classic Rock ‘n’ Roll numbers from the 1950s and 60s.
Tara, who supported ‘The Stones in Urmston’ to popular acclaim, will perform her own interpretations of music from the same era.
Tickets cost £10 and are selling fast, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 07722 150 733 to purchase.
Doors open at 6.30pm for the licensed bar, food, hot drinks will be available from 7.30pm, when the concert itself starts.
As a prelude to the evening concert, in the afternoon St Mary’s will be hosting a ’Community Showcase’ of local organisations who will be displaying their talents at a free of charge event from 1pm until 5pm.
The organisations appearing are expected to include: Trafford Youth Orchestra, 3rd Davyhulme Scout and Guide Band, St Mary’s School, Cornerstone Boys Brigade Band, SocialLites WI Choir, Flixton Academy of Performing Arts (FAPA) and Trafford Community Music Group.
