A TIMPERLEY girl appeared on Blue Peter as part of the programme’s Chinese New Year celebrations.

Jennifer Mullally, eight, lives on Harwell Road with her mum Lily, who is Chinese and dad John, who is Irish, as well as her 13-year-old sister Olivia.

Jennifer is appeared on the iconic CBBC programme last Thursday, January 30, making a Chinese drum with presenter Barney Harwood, as well as talking about Chinese New Year.

Lily said: “Blue Peter was looking for two Chinese girls and two Chinese boys to do a special programme to celebrate the Chinese New Year, they contacted the Chinese Centre where Jennifer is studying Chinese, the headteacher recommended Jennifer.

“Jennifer was very excited about it, the children from her school were also excited and some of the children from her class asked Jennifer to wave at them on the telly.”

This is not the first time Jennifer has made the news, as she and her sister Olivia were featured in Messenger in September when they both gained A*s in GCSE Mandarin, at just eight and 12-years-old respectively.

But the girls are not resting on their laurels, as they are to undertake Mandarin AS Levels in June.

Jennifer will also be singing and performing a self-directed traditional Chinese dance on stage in Chinatown on February 2 to celebrate the Chinese festival.

Lily said: “She is not really nervous, she likes performing, she has been on stage many times for different occasions.”
