STRETFORD charity Scilight Arts is celebrating receiving a grant of £15,000.

The grant has been awarded by People’s Health Trust through Active Communities, a funding programme which invests in local people and groups in communities with great ideas to make their communities even better.

The 24-month project will extend existing activities - eight two hour craft workshops will be delivered each week by 14 volunteers; with a new paid project co-ordinator to continue and develop the activities in Stretford.

The project will address issues of mental ill-health and social or emotional isolation. Chris Lunn, director of HealthForm, said:

‘This project, supported using money raised by HealthForm, is extremely valuable to a wide range of individuals in this area, we look forward to hearing more about how this initiative enables people to live longer healthier lives.’

Active Communities is for community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £350,000 a year that are seeking investment of between £5,000 and £50,000 a year, for projects lasting up to two years. For more information visit www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk
