THE next phase of improvement works to the Altrincham Interchange will take place over the next few weeks.

As a result, there will be a temporary loss of car parking spaces in the neighbouring Oakfield Road car park.

This disruption is due to the building of a new footbridge between platforms one and two at the interchange. This phase of the work will start on February 3 and will continue for three weeks, until February 24.

The work will mean that 22 car parking spaces will be temporarily out of use at Oakfield Road and the pay and display machine within this area will not be available during this period. The rest of the car park will remain open as usual.

Executive councillor Alan Mitchell said. “The building of a new footbridge at Altrincham Interchange is much needed and is part of a phased programme of works to improve passenger safety and access within this important transport hub.”

Further work is scheduled to take place and regular notices will be displayed at the relevant times to keep customers informed.
