ASHTON On Mersey School pupil Jodie Taylor has a way with words - just ask the judge of a national creative writing competition.
The event, called 12 Words of Winter, invited pupils to sum up the season and the Year Eight student’s entry was chosen by award-winning author Alan Gibbons.
He said: “This one has a seasonal simplicity and warmth.”
Jodie’s entry read: ‘The wind howled, the fire danced, the snowman stood, the children waited.’ Nearly 90 schools entered from Orkney to Penzance, with ages ranging from 11 to 18. Jodie has won a hamper of books for the school and an Ipod for herself.
