TWO photographers are launching their first ever exhibition of urban streetscapes in Altrincham.

The two photographers, Cindy McCourt and Lillian Cain share a passion for photography, both taking voluntary redundancy last year so that they could follow their art.

The exhibition started early in January and will run until February 1 at the Altrincham Forward gallery 12 – 14 Shaws Road.

The photographers will be at the venue on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday if you would like to speak to them about their work.

The exhibition features abstract and traditional images of urban areas around Altrincham and portrays a lively and vibrant town from a number of different angles. As the pair grew up in the area they know their subject well and aim to encourage people to take a closer look at their surroundings and find beauty in some of the most unexpected places.

Helen Jones, corporate director economic growth and prosperity, said: “This is an exciting exhibition from two local photographers who clearly have a great passion for their area. With a mix of traditional and abstract photography on display, the exhibition shows Altrincham as you have never seen it before. It is well worth a look.”

Joan Scott from Altrincham Forward commented: “This exhibition highlights the town as an exciting and interesting place to live, work and socialise and makes a fantastic contribution towards our vision to transform and revitalise the town centre. Local residents are invited to come along and support the exhibition.”
