ALTRINCHAM based singer songwriter Kirk McElhinney will launch his debut album, World Gone Blind, at Manchester’s Band On The Wall on January 9.
Kirk’s highly-rated acoustic guitar style has been heavily influenced by his guru, Bert Jansch and he’s struggling to contain his excitement.
He said: “I can’t wait actually - to see where it goes and I’m really happy with the finished product. i really believe in it.”
kirk said the influence of Jansch on his work has been huge.
He said: “When I first saw him live I never touched an electric guitar again - I sold my electric guitar and i’ve played acoustic guitar ever since. i used to follow him round wherever he gigged and he’s been like my schooling, really.”
World Gone Blind has been co-produced by Manchester pianist and producer John Ellis and was recorded at Limefield Studios, a facility used by artists including Corrine Bailey Rae.
The launch will included a live performance by Kirk. who is originally from Rochdale, and a band that will include John Ellis on keyboards. The musician’s impressive cv includes recording with the likes of Lily Allen and Corrine Bailey Rae.
