VISUALLY impaired siblings from Sale have become a national charity’s calendar stars.

Maxwell Leonard, who is eight, appears in Action for Blind People’s calendar, as one of 27,000 people with sight loss to have benefitted from the charity during the last 12 months.

Maxwell and sister Alex feature in the calendar alongside details of the charity’s Boots Opticians Regional Athletics event in Sheffield.

They joined around 120 other young people with sight loss, aged four to 16, at the event, showing off their skills in sports including javelin, vertical jump and 60 metre sprint – proving that a visual impairment need not be a barrier to an active life

Quoted in the calendar, Maxwell says: “It was a brilliant day. It was good to join my sister and have fun in the running and other sports.”
