A 10-year-old girl whose presents were stolen from her Timperley home on Christmas Eve has thanked the public and police for donating presents and saving her Christmas.

The little girl, who her parents wish to be only identified as ‘Jenny’, wrote to the officers at Altrincham Police Station, thanking them for her 2DS game console.

She added: “I was so overwhelmed with your generosity and kindness and I was thrilled with it. Hope your Christmas was full of joy and cheer.”

Jenny’s mum added: “We were overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness, generosity and kindness of our local community.

“We are lost for words as to how we can adequately express our thanks.”

Inspector Laura Burgess, of South Trafford INPT, based at Altrincham Police Station said: “After the devastating realisation by the family that their home had been broken into, two cars and all of their daughter's Christmas presents stolen on the eve of Christmas, we could only imagine how this would feel.

“As a team we set about making a difference and appealed on our social media sites for the donation of presents for the young girl.

“I don't think any of us expected the kindness shown by the local people.

“My officers and PCSOs made several trips to the home to deliver the presents and even had a whip round in the office also to buy her a present.

“Local shops were also asked to donate and were very kind and understanding.

“I am really proud of the team and the local people. It made a difference to this family and took some of the shock and upset away at this special time of the year.”
