Community rallies round after burglars steal little girl's Christmas presents

TIMPERLEY residents have rallied round and donated Christmas presents to a little girl who had her gifts stolen by thieves.
The 10 year-old's family home in Mossgrove Road was raided by mean thieves in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
They got in through patio doors and took keys to two cars, which they then stole, along with items such as mobile phones.
They also took all of the 10 year-old girl's presents from under the Christmas tree leaving her with the prospect of no gifts to open on Christmas Day.
But when the burglary was reported to police in Altrincham, officers had a collection to raise some cash to buy her some festive gifts.
They also made a Twitter appeal for residents to donate presents.
And dozens of people responded, bringing toys, chocolates and One Direction gifts, the girl's favourite band.
The local Tesco store even donated a tablet computer for her.
Officers played Father Christmas delivered the presents to the family last night so the girl had them in time for Christmas morning.
Sgt Beverley Cowan from the Altrincham Neighbourhood Policing team said: "We have been overwhelmed by the response.
"We're very thankful to everyone who has contributed for the amazing community spirit they have shown.
"It just goes to show there an awful lot of good people out there who more than compensate for the individuals who have committed this offence."
Investigations into the raid are still ongoing.
