A SALE Harriers heptathlete and part-time student has had a boost towards her goal to represent the UK at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from a sponsorship package with the Manchester based ANS Group.

The firm will be sponsoring Jess Taylor in the run up to the games. The business will support with new equipment, travel and physiotherapy, allowing Jess to develop her sporting career while she continues to study part-time.

Having started competitive sprinting at the age of 11, Jess recently achieved the rank of six in the UK and trains 25 hours a week to a schedule of technical drills in an effort on making the UK top three in order to qualify for the 2014 games.

In addition to her success as an athlete, Jess is also completing a degree in architecture at Sheffield-Hallam University, where she recently travelled to South Africa to work on her dissertation.

Jess said “ANS supports with all of the extra things that come along with being an athlete and that are especially difficult to pay for as a student.

“The sponsorship provides that last piece of the puzzle that is crucial for a lot of athletes when trying to juggle a career in sport and their studies. It helps give me the extra focus needed in the run up to 2014.”
