TWO Trafford men were slammed by a judge for their outrageous behaviour after booking a £400 a night room at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel.

George Murphy, 21, and Rory Carroll, 23, turned up for breakfast drunk and barefoot.

And Carroll was dressed in just his underpants and t-shirt said Prosecutor Katherine Eccles at the Manchester City Magistrates’ Court.

After being refused entry into the restaurant on December 2 they swore and threatened two of the staff.

They were later seen sliding down bannisters on the second floor before police stepped in and arrested them.

Dealing with Murphy, District Judge Khalid Qureshi, said: “This was appalling behaviour while you were under the influence of alcohol or any other substances.

“I shudder to think how much drink you must have consumed.  You were both as bad as each other”.

Murphy, of Chiltern Gardens, Sale, pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behaviour causing harassment, alarm and distress.

The judge gave him a 12 week 9pm-6am curfew with £50 compensation each to hotel workers Laura McEwan and Charles Forbes.

It was said at a previous hearing that the men had drank dry the mini bar in their room.  A fridge door was also damaged.

Carroll, of The Haven, Hale, had already pleaded guilty to similar offences.

He was fined £165 with £85 costs and £20 surcharge.

The court also ordered him to pay similar compensation to the two hotel staff.

The court was told that Murphy had several previous convictions and had served a jail term.

His lawyer John Wolfson said he deeply regretted the incident and only had a ‘cloudy’ recollection of his behaviour.
