CHORISTERS from St Ambrose College in Hale Barns and Sale tenor Martin Toal joined leading lighta of Manchester’s sporting and business world to help raise £18,000 for The Christie Hospital.

The lunch was held at Mere Golf and Country Club and organised by Paula Loftus and her husband Pat, a non executive director at The Christie and senior partner at Deloittes.

Pat said: “We are just part of a group looking to raise £1 million and with this event we are up to £250,000. In the wider context the Christie Charity is hoping to raise just over £10 million to build a new integrated treatment centre to replace the existing young oncology unit. The overall aim is to bring together treatment, research and education with the vision of becoming a world leading young oncology unit for those up to the age of 24.”

Paula added: “We would also like to thank the young choristers from St. Ambrose College for providing such rousing and genuinely heart warming music.”
