THE Rotary Club of Altrincham has helped provide more than 1,700 toys for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Appeal - smashing the inital target of 1,200.

The gifts will be distributed to disadvantaged children across Trafford this week.

Rachel Steward from the Salvation Army said: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of local people who have helped make a better Christmas for needy families. It is nice to see communities pulling together, especially at this time of year.”
