THE MP for Stretford and Urmston has announced the winner of her annual Christmas card competition.

Kate Green MP chose 11-year-old Megan Cooper, from Davyhulme Primary School, as the winner of the 2013 competition, which was organised alongside Messenger and Cargill PLC.

Megan’s winning design will appear on the front of the card which Ms Green plans to send to hundreds of constituents, local businesses, voluntary and community groups, faith groups and schools.

Designs from the four runners up and several other entries from schools across Trafford will also be displayed in the card.

Every pupil who has contributed will receive a certificate and Megan will also be given a certificate and small prize.

The MP said: “I received more than 500 entries from schools around the constituency.

“I was really impressed with the range of creative designs submitted and it was incredibly hard to pick a winner. Megan’s design stood out as it was so creative and original.

“I’m really grateful to Cargill PLC and the Messenger newspaper for sponsoring the competition and agreeing to judge the entries”

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the competition and I hope to run a similar one next year.”
