DENTISTS from Brooklands are proving they are not only kind to people’s teeth after launching an appeal to provide football kits to an African school.

The Maple Road dental team kicked off the donation appeal after hearing that children from Michael James School, near Mombasa, Kenya, dreamed of owning football kits of their own.

Altrincham couple, Kath and Mike Blears, established the charity-run school named after their deceased youngest son, after being struck by the poverty they saw when visiting Kenya in 2007.

Kath said “We’ve a levelled piece of ground and now everyone’s football mad. It’s wonderful to see the joy sport brings – these children have very little, but they love life and are blossoming in confidence through playing football.

“With space and funds for 60 pupils, only one child per family has a school place and they would love the chance to have a sports kit to share with their family.”

Anyone wanting to donate should drop into Maple Road Dental Practice, Maple Road, Brooklands.

Kath and Mike Blears of the HOLA Charitable Trust will present the children with the donated kits.
