POLICE in Stretford have raided a cannabis farm, recovering plants with an estimated value of £150,000 and equipment worth more than £30,000.


Officers and PCSOs from North Trafford INPT executed a warrant on Wednesday, December 4, at an industrial premises on Lund Street, Old Trafford, where a substantial cannabis farm was found.


Neighbourhood inspector, Jon Evans, described the farm as a ‘sophisticated operation’, with officers seizing more than 280 mature plants.


Insp Evans said that while no people were at the address at the time, the equipment was recovered forensically to preserve fingerprints, enquiries are ongoing and ‘arrests are expected’ in the future.


Twelve tents were found within the farm, each with its own lighting and water system, and some containing up to 40 plants.


The warrant was issued as a result of public information and a police investigation.


He said: “This is a great result for both the police and people of Trafford with the seizure, and destruction, of a substantial amount of cannabis that now won’t be seen on the streets of Trafford.”
