A FATHER of three from Sale whose wife died of cancer is raising funds in her memory.

David Howson, 44, wants to raise £15,000 for The Christie in Manchester where his wife Sarah, was treated.

The Rydal Avenue resident set up a memorial web page in aid of the hospital - as a way of saying thank you for what he described as the 'phenomenal' support it provided throughout her illness.

David said the web page has a range of events on it and people can choose which ones they would like to support.

He said Hannah, Sarah’s sister, will be running the London Marathon in April.

He said Sarah was “a bubbly, lovely person.”

David said: “She had chemotherapy every two weeks so by the time all the side effects had left her body she was about to start the next cycle of treatment. She never moaned about it and she got on with it.”#

Sarah died aged 42 in August and after being diagnosed with bowel cancer it was discovered the disease had spread to her liver.

David said the last 18 months have been 'horrendous' but added the couple’s three daughters, Tilly, 15, Jemima, 13, and Daisy, 9, have been a source of great strength.

He said: “When Sarah became ill and towards the end when we knew she was dying and we had little time left her concern was me and the girls. I think that’s what’s keeping me going - I’ve got three daughters who I need to look after.”
