REGULARS and staff are raising their glasses to the landlady of a Sale public house which has been commended by Trafford and Hulme Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Sale’s Railway pub was runner-up in the group’s ‘most improved pub’ category.

The accolade went to landlady Yvonne Hartley - known to her staff and locals as Bonnie.

Bonnie said: "My team and I are delighted by this recognition by Camra."

And she pledged: "We will continue to restore he Railway to all the glory it deserves."

One of her regulars, Mike Lally, said: "Bonnie and her staff have worked hard to turn the pub into a winner - and succeeded."

A spokesperson for Camra said: "Since Bonnie took over the lacklustre pub, there has been a turnaround in its fortune."

The spokesperson added: "The dedicated work of Bonnie and her team is a testament to the importance of good management."

Bonnie is the tenant of Robinsons Brewery, which is also backing Bonnie and her team for further success.

Susan Forbes, Robinsons' business development manager, said: "The Railway really has become the hub of the community.

"Bonnie and her staff have done a fantastic job in bringing people back into the pub - and that's what it's all about!"
