CONCERNED residents who oppose methane gas extraction set to go ahead in Davyhulme have drawn on the experiences of counterparts in America.

Trafford’s Breathe Clean Air Group (BCAG) has highlighted the work of the Moms Clean Air Force, set up by American mothers to protect their communities from deteriorating air quality.

The group has campaigned against pollution from fracking for natural gas and oil production in Wyoming and Utah and also from sites in Colorado and Texas.

And Pete Kilvert, BCAG chairman, believes Trafford Council must learn the lessons of American experiences and abort plans for proposed coal bed methane extraction.

“We can’t let that happen in Davyhulme,” he said. “The council must not allow coal bed methane extraction to take place next to housing estates and schools.

“Davyhulme already suffers from serious air pollution.”
