Students wanted to prove they're all art
ART With A Heart, the Altrincham-based arts centre for the community, is looking for entries for its Trafford Schools Open Art exhibition.
Project director Karen Wroe said the event offers young artists gallery exposure and the chance to receive helpful feedback from visitors to a show that was a big hit earlier this year.
Karen said: “We showcased work from Trafford schools - getting the work out of the corridors and into a public exhibition space. We had work from the AS and A level students, the students thoroughly enjoyed it and the feedback was very positive. The public said we can’t believe this is A level work, it’s very good.”
Jenny Jamieson, one of the winners at the last TSOA exhibition said: “As a student, you don’t know how good your work is until you get that feedback.”
Entrants must be studying A level Art at a school or sixth form in the area and Karen said students can enter pieces “off their own bat” if their school or college isn’t involved.
Karen said schools that enter could walk away with £500 worth of art materials by being nominated for the schools award.
* The Trafford Schools Open Art Exhibition will be held at Art With A Heart, Creative Surgery, Normans Place, off Regent Road, Altrincham, from November 15 to December 16. Those who attend the exhibition will get the chance to vote for their favourite art work and a Visitors Choice Award. Entry forms are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
