Inconsiderate parking not just a problem for Flixton Junior School

PARKING outside Trafford’s schools at rush hour appears to be a major bone of contention after more residents voiced concerns about careless parents clogging up their roads.
Last week Messenger reported the Street Parking Action Group’s efforts to improve parking standards along Delamere Road outside Flixton Junior School.
But Jean Brown, a Mardale Avenue resident, believes congestion and inconsiderate parking outside Flixton Infant School is just as big an issue.
Both schools share a playing field inbetween the two cul-de-sacs and Mrs Brown feels the influx of traffic in both the morning and afternoons is a major problem.
“We have as much trouble at the other end if not more,” he said. “Some parents are downright rude in fact. I have been called a fat cow and told to get a life by some.
“We have been thinking about getting parking permits. I am disabled and sometimes I can’t get into my drive way or sometimes I am blocked out.
“They do it for quite a long time in the morning and afternoon. We only have 11 houses and some of our people require nurses to attend to them to get them out of bed and stuff like that.”
Mrs Brown said the Infant School has sent out letters in the past appealing to parents to park considerately and banners on the railings to hammer the message home.
“We have banners on the road telling them not to park here. People park their cars on the road and then just walk through,” she added.
“Some parents even see it’s a problem when they are trying to walk their children to school. It is just not on.”
In other parts of Trafford, motorists have also parked their vehicles on white zigzag lines outside Sale Grammar School.
