Charity launches appeal for Sale United wheelchair footballer
9:00am Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in News
AN appeal has been launched to help a Sale United player get the specialist equipment he needs to continue playing wheelchair football.
Lifelong Manchester United fan Alex Mynette, 15, took up the sport two years ago and national children’s charity Cauldwell Children has launched an appeal to raise £4,000 to buy him his own football wheelchair.
The teenager has a complex muscular disorder which means he has been a full time wheelchair user since the age of 13.
Deborah Jones, Alex’s mother, said: “He’s really been looking forward to getting his own chair. Currently he has to borrow a specialist football chair from the club where he trains twice a week. He finds these chairs uncomfortable so we applied for funding for his own chair now that he has settled into the club and is getting involved.”
