AGE UK’s ITea and Biscuits week was a great success, with 12 people in later life invited to John Lewis Trafford to try out digital technology such as the Internet, iPads and mobile phones, at an event led by the shop’s experts.
ITea and Biscuits week is an annual campaign run by national charity Age UK. With five million people in the UK over the age of 65 having never used the Internet and 93 percent of older people yet to try out a smartphone, the Week introduced older novices to a wide range of digital technology.
John Lewis Trafford partnered with Age UK Trafford to support the campaign which saw technology experts from shops’ audio and television departments nationwide running workshops, taster events and drop in sessions to help older people to learn more about computing, digital photography and tablets amongst much more.
Janet Bellass, from Davyhulme, attended the ITEA and Biscuits Week 2013 event. She said: “It’s been absolutely brilliant, really informative. You don’t feel embarrassed asking questions and everyone has made us feel so welcome and comfortable.”
Branch manager at John Lewis Trafford, Mark Blundell added: “ITEA and Biscuits week was a great success and I would like to say a big thank you to all those that took part.”
