Can you help Lions build a bigger bonfire?
7:10pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
URMSTON Lions Community Bonfire Committee is appealing to warehousing and transport companies to donate redundant pallets for their annual bonfire.
To ensure the success of the bonfire and firework display’s 15th year, the committee is reaching out to companies who can deliver redundant pallets of any size or condition.
Chairman and event organiser, Alan Vernon said: “The economy and changing in trading patterns since last year have left us short of around 200 pallets.
“We are confident of making up with other waste timber but the relative speed and ease of construction on the day using scrap pallets cannot be emphasised enough.”
The committee is even more reliant on support due to lack of its own transport, so is urging anyone who can help to deliver pallets to Chassen Road, Flixton, on Friday, November 1, after 1pm or Saturday, November 2, before 11am. Alternatively, call Alan Vernon on 0161 747 8560.
The bonfire itself will be held in its usual venue at Abbotsfield Park, at 7pm, on Saturday, November 2 with all proceeds going to the Urmston Lions charity fund.
Adult tickets are £5 with 16 and under and pensioner tickets costing £3, which also includes evening entertainment of ‘pyroscope’ fire spinners at 7.30pm, followed by a spectacular firework display at 8pm.
Advance tickets are available from Bernard Murray’s Quality Fresh Foods, Urmston Book Shop, Patricia’s Florist 173, Moorside Road and Urmston, Stretford, Sale and Partington Leisure Centres.
