Walking and art in Stretford
5:11pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
AN arts group in Stretford is encouraging residents to get to grips with the area and join them on a casual walk around the town this Sunday afternoon.
The M32 Arts Group will be taking in all the sights along footpaths on the boundaries of the M32 postcode area in a 12-and-a-half mile walk, starting at the Urmston Pub at 10am.
The walk will be split into two legs – with a break at Longford Park Cafe where people can leave or join – before embarking on the second part of the journey back to the pub for between 4pm and 5pm.
Pavement and canal paths are prevalent for most of the first leg, while the second, more challenging stage will take place in rural terrain, fields and occasional undergrowth.
The group is encouraging those coming along to wear appropriate footwear and dress according to the weather conditions, as well as bringing a waterproof, drink and a snack.
It coincides with a photograph competition the group is holding with the aim of creating a calendar of the M32 postcode area with a community theme to raise funds for an arts project in 2014.
Those who go on the walk are encouraged to take some striking photos of the area and submit them to M32Arts@gmail.com by October 27.
