New home for sexual health service
5:20pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
TRAFFORD sexual health services has moved to a new home.
The service, providing advice on contraception, reproductive health and treatment of sexually transmitted infections for people of all ages, is now based at Urmston Clinic, 74 Princess Road, Trafford, M41 5SQ.
The move coincided with the launch of the Trafford Integrated Sexual Health Service by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
The service will offer a ‘one stop shop’ for contraception and genito-urinary medicine (GUM) at 74 Princess Road which will be known as Urmston Clinic. It will offer a service for men and women of all ages including young people.
Bridgewater won a three year contract to deliver sexual health services in Trafford following a tendering exercise earlier this year by Trafford Primary Care Trust and Trafford Council.
Chief executive of Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr Kate Fallon said: “Our integrated service will build on the existing sexual health services in Trafford and benefit from our experience of delivering these services in other towns.
“We will be offering services from a single location which has been specially adapted so that people will be able to access different sexual health services in just one visit to the clinic.”
The service will be open from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8.30am to 9pm on Thursday. It will replace existing sexual health services at Trafford General Hospital.
To contact the service email TISH@bridgewater.nhs.uk.
The sexual health services offered at Altrincham General Hospital, Chapel Road, Partington Health Centre, Seymour Grove Health Centre, Timperley Health Centre, Lostock Medical Centre, Trafford FE College and Talkshop in Sale Waterside are unaffected by these changes.
