Trafford to unveil refurbished respite care centre
10:00am Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in News
PEOPLE can find out more about the facilities available at Trafford council’s refurbished Shawe Road respite centre.
An Open Day is to be held at the Flixton-based facility - refurbished by the local authority at a cost of just over £1m - on October 9.
Visitors can talk to the staff about respite and short breaks.
Those who attend the event will be also able to enter a free competition to rename the centre, which will be opened by executive councillor Michael Young.
Cllr Young said: “The Council’s investment in this respite service reinforces its determination to provide the best possible personalised support and care to local residents. By doing this we are helping them enjoy better opportunities for independence and inclusion.
“Working with our NHS partners and Creative Support, we have ensured Shawe Road respite service is one which ensures people are treated with dignity and respect, whatever their need or disability.”
The refurbished facility has seven fully adapted, en-suite bedrooms and a new sensory suite. People with profound multiple disabilities, those with complex health needs or demonstrating challenging behaviour can all be supported, as well as those needing short assessment breaks.
