Charity fundraiser is a family affair
HALE resident Sally Warrington and her family are organising a charity ball in memory of Sally’s twin sister Jane - who died of cancer 10 years ago.
All proceeds from the event will go to The Christie where Jane was treated and Sally said her sibling had nothing but praise for the treatment she received there.
She said: “I’m doing this in memory of my twin sister Jane who sadly lost her brave battle with breast cancer 10 years ago and it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. It’s also for the amazing work The Christie has done for other members of my family, including my brother and close friends in the last 10 years.
“Jane was very happy to be at The Christie and she had a lot of faith in what they were doing. I would also like to mention the man who was looking after her, Professor Anthony Howell.”
The charity ball will take place at the Britannia Country House Hotel in Didsbury on October 5. Attractions will include a buck’s fizz reception, a three course dinner and live music.
Sally, 64, has organised the event with the help of her daughters, Nicola and Sarah and her niece, Jody. The trio visited businesses in Hale and Altrincham to drum up support for the event and have been impressed by their generosity. Businesses made donations and provided vouchers and raffle prizes to help the good cause. Sally is also grateful to other members of her family and friends for their support.
