Trafford General DJ banned from road for drink driving
4:00pm Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
A PART-time DJ at Trafford General Hospital was given a 17 month ban in Manchester for driving while nearly double the drink limit.
Financial adviser Nigel Larkin, from Sale, was arrested after stopping to talk to a woman in Cheetham in the early hours of the morning.
The 47-year-old moved off in his Mercedes Benz on seeing the police who had to use their emergency equipment to pull him over.
At the City’s magistrates’ court Larkin, of Derbyshire Road, admitted being above the limit on August 31.
He was also fined £400 with £85 costs and £80 surcharge.
Prosecutor Helen Veitch said Larkin, who runs his own firm, was seen to pop a mint into his mouth before speaking to officers.
The court heard he had drank seven bottles of beer over a long period of time.
Philip Reed, defending, said Larkin had been on his way home after dropping off a friend in Prestwich.
“He believed he was fit to drive and the ban will have a big impact on his business and charity work”, said Mr Reed.
