Sights and sounds of autumn at the mill
6:10pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
CRAFTSMEN and gardeners will explain the sights and sounds of autumn at a celebration of the season at Quarry Bank Mill on September 28 and 29 from 11am to 4pm in its Mill Meadow and Apprentice House Garden.
There will be an orchard trail leading through Styal village, and a bee-keeper explaining his pastime.
“Autumn is a magical time of year, and nowhere more so than in our gardens and orchards,” said Rachel Whalley, Visitor Experience and Volunteering Assistant at Quarry Bank.
In the Apprentice House Garden, which formed part of the set for Channel 4 drama ‘The Mill’, apples will provide the inspiration for many activities.
There will be activities for children, including a bee trail where youngsters can follow clues and learn about buzzing bugs.
There will also be a hog roast, accompanied by music from the Steamhead Band.
