Three car collision on M56 causes heavy delays
10:52am Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
MOTORISTS travelling on the west-bound M56 this morning experienced severe traffic delays following a three car collision during rush hour.
Police were called to the section of the motorway between Junction 5 at Manchester Airport and 6 at Hale, at around 8.25am, as a result of a collision between a Vauxhall Corsa, a Vauxhall Vectra and an Audi.
Two people were taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by ambulance, but their injuries were not thought to be serious and others were treated by paramedics for minor injuries at the scene.
Police were seen clearing debris from the carriageway at around 8.50am, but traffic travelling away from Manchester was still heavily backed up as far as Junction 4, Wythenshawe, until after 9am.
Traffic is now said to be moving normally.
