Stretford woman fined for using husband's expired disabled badge

A STRETFORD woman went to the hairdressers after using her husband’s expired disabled badge to illegally park in the City Centre.
Manchester magistrates heard that her car was spotted in a disabled bay in Spring Gardens on June 2nd.
The badge had expired in 2010 and Sarah Nelson told an enforcement officer: “I didn’t have enough change and the hairdresser took longer than expected.”
Mother-of-two Nelson, 31, of Fadie Avenue, pleaded guilty to using the badge in contravention of the regulation. She was fined £65 and £275 costs.
Peter Grogan, defending, said Nelson, who had never previously been in trouble, was deeply sorry and embarrassed.
The court heard her husband had allowed the badge to expire but was still entitled to one.
