Opportunity knocks once more for good causes thanks to Trafford Housing Trust initiative
6:00am Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
ORGANISATIONS in Trafford seeking to make a positive difference to their communities are being given another opportunity to bid for a share of a £635,000 funding pot.
Trafford Housing Trust’s five community panels will assess applications from local, non-profit making groups, and provide funding to those initiatives judged to deliver the greatest community benefits.
The five panels each has £127,000 to allocate over the course of the 2013/14 financial year.
The panels, made up of tenants and residents, represent Altrincham, Old Trafford, Sale, Stretford and Urmston. Applications for the first round of funding closed in May, with more than 80 grants made. A second window of opportunity has now opened – with hopeful groups invited to submit their applications by September 30.
Organisations can apply for grants ranging from £200 to several thousand pounds.
There is no maximum amount, although awards above £10,000 are rare.
Already this year, money has been allocated to local groups for a range of environment and youth activities.
Funding has also gone to support employment projects and to encourage volunteering. The amounts of funding agreed has ranged from £250- £15,000.
Matthew Gardiner, chief executive of Trafford Housing Trust, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local, non-profit making organisations to secure funding for their projects. We had a terrific response to our first round of funding earlier this year, and are hoping for a similarly enthusiastic response this time around.
“Any community project which makes a difference to people’s quality of life, or makes local neighbourhoods stronger and more vibrant, will be in with a chance of receiving funding.
“The community panels are ready and waiting for applications – and we look forward to helping some truly inspiring projects come to life.”
